Your data is your own
Brands subscribe to tools that help them gather and share their stories. Nobody pays us for your attention. That is the whole business — which is why your data is not part of it, and why your taste is yours to take anywhere.
Why you can believe this one
Every platform says it respects your privacy. The reason to believe it here is not that we promise harder. It is that we have no way to make money from your data, and no product that would use it.
A brand subscribes to the tools that gather and share its story — a page, Stories, a listing in local discovery. That is the entire revenue. There is no advertising here, no auction, no promoted placement, and nothing a brand can buy that puts it in front of a particular kind of person.
So your data has no revenue value to us. The promise below is not restraint. It is the absence of a reason.
What Yipi! knows about you
Plainly, and it is a short list.
- What you fave, and the Yipi-Lists you make. This is the point of the place.
- Who and what you follow — the Tastemakers and Circles that make up your taste profile.
- Which metro you are in, from the Communities you join. A Circle is local, so a fave without a city cannot be counted.
- That a purchase happened, where you bought through a connector a brand authorised. Used for two things and no others: reporting to that brand, and paying the Tastemaker whose recommendation led to it.
Faves and lists you keep private stay private, and you can change that any time.
What Yipi! never does with it
- Never sells it. Not to brands, not to data brokers, not as an “audience” under another name.
- Never follows you around the web. No retargeting, no cross-site tracking, no pixel on somebody else’s page doing our work.
- Never names you on a private list. Counts always; names only where you made a list public.
- Never lets a brand buy its way to you. There is no targeting product here. A brand can be found by your taste. It can never pay to be put in front of it.
Your taste profile is yours
What you follow becomes how Yipi! shows you things. Josh on indie music, Tyka on interiors, three Circles in your city — that is a taste profile, and it is made of people you chose rather than inferred from behaviour you never agreed to hand over.
Which means it is something almost no personalisation system can offer:
- You can read it. It is a list of names and Circles, not a score. There is no hidden model of you.
- You can change it. Remove a Tastemaker and what you see changes, visibly and immediately.
- You can always ask why. Anything you are shown has a person’s name behind it, because that is where it came from.
And what it never does: following someone shapes what you see, and nothing else. It does not change what a Circle surfaces, it does not vote on your behalf, and a Tastemaker with a large following does not count for more. Only you can fave something.
You can take it with you
A profile you cannot leave with is not really yours. So this one travels.
When you go from Yipi! to a brand’s own store, you can choose to bring your taste with you — so a shop you have never visited can show you the things you would actually have looked for. You carry it. We do not send it. That distinction decides everything else about how it works:
- It is a choice you make each time, not a setting that runs in the background. Two buttons, and the difference is on the label.
- Only what is relevant travels. Going to a rug shop sends what your taste says about rugs, not everything we know about you.
- You can see what you shared, with whom, and take it back.
- It is never sold. No brand pays for this, and no brand is offered it as a product.
The point of it is the ordinary one: moving from one shop to the next, the shop knows nothing about you and your own history is the only thing that transfers. It should be able to.
And you can take it away
You can ask us for an export of what you have here, and you can ask us to delete it — email [email protected] and a person will do it. A brand does not lose its standing when it stops paying us, and you do not lose your taste when you stop using us.
It is the same position we take on money. Yipi! takes nothing from your purchase and holds nothing over you. The value of this place has to be that it is useful, not that leaving is expensive.
